Week 33 - Kingston

Week 33  04-25-2016

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was super cool. Elder Fowkes and I have been hitting the Gym pretty hard now because he has 3 weeks until he goes home. Elder Martin left to Yallas and now Elder Ostrouski is here! The house is still great! We get a lot of things done!

Elder Fowkes and I have been trying to work with ward members a lot more so we talked to sister Green and she said for us to come over and have dinner with them. There are 2 Returned Missionaries in their home so we invited them to help us teach someone in their area they are so excited! The dinner was amazing too! It was Brown stew chicken :) We had some good laughs and some funny Patwah speaking but the spiritual thought was great. They are such an awesome family!

We went to a Penticostal church last week. It was a lot different than ours. It was so loud and had the band there. The pastor gave us a shout out though which was cool. Free advertising for the church haha. It was nice when we got back to our church it made me feel a lot better and like at home.

We have some awesome investigators. Michael is a member in the ward and he is 24 and love coming out with us. When he comes with us we get a lot of new people to meet with. He talks with all the women. Elder Fowkes and I just laugh and try to keep quiet when he is talking but he did introduce us to his friend Hava, She is awesome she really wants to know if this is true. She is coming to church this Sunday she said. She has a little boy that’s 7 months. He was born when i left on my mission!! Cool kid right there!

This week we also saw a woman named Shari, We were having a lesson at Loriece's house and she was there doing her hair. (loriece is a old woman who can't walk because she has had 2 knee replacements and hip replacements a few months ago) When we were talking about the Restoration she was looking at it and got big eyes about it. So we asked if we can share more. We saw her yesterday and she said she grew up with a pastor as a step father and she has always felt something mission. She said there is a hole in this and i don't know why. Elder Fowkes and I looked at each other and just smiled! She is so ready she wants to be happy and this gospel will do just that!! Love the Jamaicans!!

Week 32 - Kingston

Week 32  04-18-2016

Dear Family and Friends,

This week was a fun one!! It rained so much this week! A car drove past me and got me all wet. Made the day fun haha glad I got waterproof shoes! The rain has been nice though it cools down the place a lot here. But then it gets humid and sticky.

We had a lesson with John this really smart kid in college and we finished the restoration. We have him a Plan of Salvation Track and he looked in it and his mind was blown. He was the 3 Kingdoms of Glory and he thought it was so cool!! He said you are the only church that has ever talked about this!! hmmm I wonder why? haha!  He is awesome - he was a 7th Day Adventist but he feels like it isn't right.  After that lesson there were some new hit artists named Deno Gee and Teknique. They were cool! We asked if we could be in the music video and they just started laughing! We almost got a picture with them but we had to leave.

Transfer Calls were this week! Elder Fowkes and I are staying together for another 3 weeks. He goes home soon. We are both excited to finish strong and praying for a baptism. Love this gospel!

Sister Tuttle is going home to. She is From Bountiful Utah. We went to the same school when we were little! haha Small world.

Dear Family and Friends -

This week was a great week!! Today we went to the Blue Mountains in the Morning!! We hiked to a waterfall!! It was so pretty to hike up there!! I loved it!! We took a Coaster Bus up to the mountains. It was about a hour drive. Glad i wasn't driving . The turns up the mountain are a death trap!! We had a awesome driver! The drivers here are amazing. They can get through some crazy stuff!! Love the roads here. Scary but fun!!

We got rained on 5 times this week! It was nice to have the clouds. Sunday was the worst it rained for 4 hours!! Good thing we were at church for 2 of those! Love Kingston. We have gotten a lot of clouds lately and it is a blessing.

Went on a trade off with elder Boyer this week!! He is awesome! Love that elder he works hard! We had some good lessons together. He lives in Cedar City! I know where his house is it's kind of funny. He lives close to our grandparent’s house on the mountain!

Loved this week! One of the best weeks so far. We had a lot of members come out with us. One is Michael. He talks to a lot of people!!! Mostly women his age...26 haha. He likes to flirt to convert. It's worked 3 times with him so far! Impressed haha. Jamaicans crack me up! Love them!!

Week 30 - Kingston

Week 30   4-4-2016

Dear Family and Friends -

This week was great!! It was fun to hear from the Prophet and the Apostles. I learned a lot this week but can't wait to learn more when we get to read the talks. President Eyring's talk sent chills through me. He is pretty bold. I need to work on my German so i can speak the heavenly language haha.

We had 2 Dinner Appointments on Sunday. Rice and Peas and Fried chicken. Love the Fried chicken and curry chicken. Best food out here besides cow skin soup. I had that last week and it was really good! Going to get more this week.

Trevor came to church with his wife to watch conference. Leaoni also came and asked when she could be baptized. Super Cool!! Hope we can have the spirit with us all the time to help these people. The spirit touches the hearts of all investigators. It goes within.

We had Zone Meeting this week! It was super good! We  talked about fallow up's. IT was a great experience to still learn!

Saw the fastest man in the world on Sunday.... He was riding a quad and stopped and pointed at us and then fish tailed on his quad. Mr. BOLT!!! He is young!! He is pretty strong too. Don't want to mess with him. Yesterday was the Carnival here in Jamaica. It is like Sin City.

Have a great week!! Love ya all!!
