Week 29 - Kingston

Week 29  03-29-2016

Dear Family and Friends -

This week was an interesting week that’s for sure!

Monday when we were emailing this woman from the other elders area said he apartment she was living in was possessed by some devil power. Scary haha seemed real though because they were doing crazy devil practices in the apartment. Glad I didn't have to go in the apartment. People are crazy here!

We went on a tradeoff this week! I went with Elder Martin from Blackfoot Idaho! He is awesome! He loves everybody and is pretty good at Patwah! Learned a lot about how to show love because he does it 24/7

I got a New Bicycle this week! It is amazing not having bike problems! Knock on wood. For Easter they do this nice food called Bun and Cheese. The Bun is bread with raisins in it and the cheese is like the squeeze cheese for ritz crackers but it's hard. It is alright. I just like the bread. The cheese is weird.

Sunday was awesome! We got to listen to Patrick Meadly give his farewell talk. Brought back some good memories. He is serving in Florida. Sunday someone also stole my helmet off my bike. Funny thing is no Jamaicans wear helmets.

Yesterday we had dinner with Marcai she made us Stew Peas! So yummy! Than we went to bishops house to teach a Rasta youth and after they fed us. I wonder how the missionaries in the states do it. It is through the enabling power of the atonement i think. Through the atonement all things can be done! :) haha

Week 28 - Kingston

Week 28  03-21-2016

Dear Family and Friends -

This week was an interesting one!!

We met a nice 7th day family this week! While we were talking to them this small coster passed by and this guy was yelling out the door at some guy down the road. It didn't feel right haha turns out the guy started running down the road and when he passed by he was yelling all sorts of bad things and this driver and he had a 8 inch knife in his hand. Scared Elder Fowkes and I pretty good. He turned back and stood by us and he was super upset. I was praying pretty hard during that time. He was crazy. He left and the people we were talking too just started laughing and asked us if we were scared. They say that happens a lot around here.... #kingston. We were safe though so don't worry mom. :)

We also had another lesson with Trevor and his wife. He is the guy that killed someone in December. We told president brown about him and he wants to be baptized and his wife. They have a date for April 16. I hope they can make it! President Brown said that he has to skype the first presidency and ask them if he can be baptized. He is going to come to a lesson with us this week. Hope i can sit in with that skype call to the first presidency!!

We had dinner at the Parks this week! They are this old couple too old to make it to church. They are great and super funny. Jamaicans are really bold so Brother Parks was talking about when he met sister Parks. He said she was beautiful when he met her but now she isn't. He said he can't wait for heaven to see her again!! haha we all lost it haha and she was laughing too! Jamaicans are crazy!!

I hope that this week goes great for all of you!!

Week 27 - Kingston

Week 27  03-14-2016

Dear Family and Friends,

Wow what a great week!! I'm in Kingston Finally!!! It is awesome here but I’m going to spend too much money. That’s a lesson the lord is going to teach me here.

Well I got here Tuesday morning at 10 and we just went out and taught the gospel. We saw some good people so hopefully they turn out into baptisms. It's hard remembering all their names. I've learned to love the city. So many people that’s for sure! we got 38 Potential Investigators! I love Finding! WE found 2 families this week! They are my favorite!

This week we had a lesson with a cool guy. He is on bail.... he killed someone in December. Wasn't his fault because this guy was going to shoot him so he took a machete and yeah..... he is super awesome though! He wants to change his life and he has year by year. He told us his life story! He makes boats out of wood. Model boats that are amazing!! He does just about everything as well. All sorts of work!

Well Kingston will be interesting and I’m gonna love it here that’s for sure!!

Week 26 - Transfers to Kingston

Week 26  03-06-2016

Dear Family and Friends,

It's Transfer week this week! Oh man it feels like I’m leaving home again! I am moving to Kingston!! My Companion will be Elder Fawkes from Gilbert, Arizona.... Nice Right!! We know a lot of the same people! He goes home in 2 transfers so I get to kill him! Haha.

This week was up and down. I'm excited to leave but Spanish town is so great! I love it here!! I'm gonna miss all the families we are teaching but Elder Fawkes said we are teaching the best magician in Jamaica so I'll get some good videos!! Super stoked! The mission is great! This week I have been in a Tri with Elder Gordon Elder Bischoff and Myself. Elder Pulsipher left early to Port Antanio to be the branch president there!! Super excited for him. Kati Ann and her family will be getting baptized sometime soon! They wrote in my journal and they all said they are so grateful they have found the truth... WOW haha Moments like those really make me excited for more missionary work! Gotta put my shoulder to the wheel!!

We had 8 Investigators come to church today!! Dang man i was so excited and so sad I’m leaving. Elder Bischoff will baptize like crazy there. Kevin came to church today as well and took a selfie next to Moroni burying the gold plates! Haha his wife came too. They both enjoyed it lots! Excited for them! Hopefully i get to go back for the baptism!!

I know this gospel is true and that the lord will bless us even more as we live faithful to the commandments. When we do what’s right we are blessed always!

Week 25 - Spanish Town

Week 25  02-29-2016

Dear Family and Friends -

It was a crazy week! I hate staying inside our house. It was election week here in Jamaica on Thursday so all the missionaries had to stay inside their house and work on the Area book, Fallow up with Investigators on the phone and read. All day it was sooo long but it was alright. Learned a lot reading the scriptures. Nobody We know was hurt during elections but on Sunday there was a miscount in the election so i got a call from the Zone Leaders and i had to call the District and tell them to go inside for the rest of the day. Stinks wanted to stay out and see the people we had for that day. We were supposed to see 4 families that evening.

District meeting was on Wednesday and it was good. We talked about fallowing up. If you leave something for someone to do you have to Fallow Up with what you left them to do. There will be no progression without people fallowing up. In Missionary Work Members are the best to do that with Investigators. Ask your friends if they are reading and coming to church. Every Member a Missionary.

Sunday Kevin told us he was going to come to church. He didn't because he got super sick but we called him and he said that he and his family prayed about April 10th to be baptized and they want to do it!! Almost dropped the phone i was so excited! The lord has blessed us with all these amazing families! We can't do this without the members though. Everybody needs a friend in the church! It's great the work members do here with us!! Love all of them!
Likkle more!
